We may have spent upwards of three hours tonight discussing Brooke Greenberg, a baby who never developed beyond 11 months despite being sixteen years of age. While I was mostly just put off by this discussion, I am fascinated by the fact that her condition is called Syndrome X, as well as by the more obvious fact that no one in the world shares her condition.
Then we wondered if she was going to outlive us all. My guess is ‘no.’
I was part of this conversation, and for some reason just couldn’t drop it. I just can’t comprehend that a “forever baby” (my trademark term) exists out there, and that she is the only one of her kind. It’s like as a punishment to Hollywood for making so many B-Movies, the powers that be are making B-Movie like concepts take shape in human form.
Also, for the record I think the “forever baby” will outlive us all. She doesn’t age along our conception of time, therefore time (and death) doesn’t apply to her. Think about it.
