I’m happy to report that thus far the most uninspired thing about the new official Lil’ Wayne mix-tape is the album art. For 2009 Weezy that is really quite impressive.
But seriously, the guy who has consistently brought it with fantastically wacky ass mixtape album art went with an overlapped photo effect of him doing the same thing?
Making a series of soul patch themed jokes on photoshop is a totally normal thing that everyone does. Right? Right.
Of Montreal - “Know Your Onion!”
Easily one of my all time favorite covers. Kevin Barnes performs angst with so much more sophistication and better pop sensibilities than any other contemporary singer.
Munk and James Murphy - “Kick Out the Chairs (Replayed by WhoMadeWho)”
I don’t quite remember when and how I came across this song, but I for some reason remembered how good it was today and had an urge to listen. I’m really glad about that, because the joy of this song it hella contagious.
Also, I think James Murphy should do more duets with female vocalists. It’s a really nice compliment to his whole deal.
Music Coincidences #3(?)
Girls - “Laura”
Okay this is one I figured out while watching the latest Glee. The beginning of Girls’ “Laura” and Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline.” It is really uncanny! I mean to the point of lawsuit uncanny.
It never occurred to me until just now, but Panda Bear looks exactly like Paul Dano. At least they won’t have trouble casting the eventual biopic (a la Ray).
